The Wasps lead by Danny Avery, Charles Robinson, and Mo Benson played with heart and almost stole a victory on the road, a last second buzzer beater left them 0-4, but the wasps seem to be turning the corner with fierce scrappy defense.

Global Professional Basketball League2 (GPBL2) acquires the United Regions Basketball League, names new President

GPBL2 NewsBURBANK, February 12 – The Global Professional Basketball League (GPBL) announced today that it has acquired the United Regions Basketball League and will merge it with is newly created Global Professional Basketball League2 (GPBL-2) as part of an aggressive expansion plan. As part of the deal, current URBL President Mac Claire will be named president of the GPBL-2. Also, Rod Myers has now been promoted to President of the GPBL. The announcement was made today at a press conference in Canton, OH by Rod Myers, President of the GPBL.

“The United Regions Basketball League (URBL) was comprised of eight teams, although only four of the teams

will transfer to the GPBL-2. Those teams are the Austin Flame, Houston Asteroids, River City Wed Wasps and the San Antonio Airmen. They will comprise the Southern Division of the GBPL-2. We as the GPBL-2 were thrilled to be able to close the deal and move forward to building the league into a working success, stated Rod Myers, President of the GPBL.” 

Also as part of the acquisition, URBL President Mac Claire has been named the new President of the GPBL-2. Mr. Claire will oversee the business operations of the GPBL-2 and work to help expand the league for the 2011 season.

“We foresee a great upcoming season and look forward to bringing a certain level of professionalism to minor league basketball. It is our intention to put a solid product on the court and to bring great family entertainment to local cities across the country, stated Myers..”

The league is currently forming the territory map of where teams will play. The goal of the league is to have two conferences with three divisions in each division. USM Holdings acquires ownership position in Global Professional Basketball League (GPBL)

GPBL2 NewsBURBANK, February 02 - United Sports Media Holdings (USM Holdings) announced today that it has acquired an ownership stake in the basketball
organization, Global Professional Basketball League (GPBL). United Sports Media, a subsidiary of USM Holdings, will handle the duties of Public and
Media Relations while assisting in the expansion of the league. The announcement was made today at a press conference in Hollywood, CA by Rod
Myers, President and Chief Executive Officer, USM Holdings.
